Stephanie Ebbens Kingsley

Stefanie Ebbens Kingsley has advocated for everyday Kentuckians for more than a decade.  A seasoned litigator with experience in consumer law, collection defense, and family law, Stefanie represents individuals in state and federal court to enforce consumer's legal rights under the Bankruptcy Code, Kentucky Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. In her role as the founding member of this firm, her practice has grown with a focus on helping clients achieve economic stability and security.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Stefanie moved to Eastern Kentucky in 2005 to work for the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky (AppalReD Legal Aid). She represented low-income clients in a variety of matters that affect the indigent members of our Appalachian community. She then worked for two years in the consumer law unit at the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, representing clients hit hard by the financial crisis. Stefanie came home to Kentucky in 2009 to return to her work serving Kentucky’s most vulnerable at legal aid. When her husband was hired on a Baptist Health Corbin, Stefanie decided the time was right to jump from legal aid to a private firm advocating for consumer rights. As her practice continues to take shape, Stefanie continues to stay grounded by representing clients Pro Bono through the Volunteer Lawyers of Appalachian Kentucky.

Stefanie graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2005. She the Kentucky Co-Chair for the National Association of Consumer Advocates, is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Kentucky Justice Association.

Stefanie is happy to be back in Kentucky for good. She lives in Williamsburg with her husband Fred Kingsley and their four dogs, twenty-two chickens on their farm. Stefanie is also a working member of the Whitely County Farmer’s Market Advisory Council, a non -voting member of the Friends of the Whitley County Market, and a board member of the Horticulture Council for the Whitley County Extension Office, and board member of the Baptist Health Corbin Foundation.

Janet L Blachowski

Great lawyers customize their relationships with clients, recognizing the actual people involved and the impact of any legal outcomes upon their lives.  Janet Blachowski is an attorney who works with real people facing real legal issues within their lives, and is devoted to obtaining the best results for her clients. She engages with her clients from the initial appointment and provides a personalized experience to meet the needs of that individual during this stressful time in their lives.

A Kentucky native, Janet returned home to the Bluegrass State after supporting her husband in his twenty-two-year career with the United States Air Force.   Janet feels privileged to continue to support the distinct needs of Kentucky Veterans in her advocacy at the firm.  

Janet began her legal career aiding Kentucky’s most vulnerable population through her work through both AppalReD Legal Aid and Kentucky Legal Aid.  Confirming her belief of giving back to her local community, Janet continues to support legal services through her pro bono work with Volunteer Lawyers of Appalachian Kentucky.  Janet has extensive courtroom experience in a variety of legal issues and will be focusing her practice on bankruptcy, immigration and domestic work.     

Janet graduated with honors from the University of Providence located in Great Falls, Montana, followed by obtaining her Juris Doctor from Regent University, School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Janet lives in Williamsburg with her husband, daughter, two dogs and a grumpy old cat.  In her free time, Janet enjoys binge reading, searching for treasures in antique stores, and traveling to visit life-long friends made through her families’ multiple moves thanks to the United States Air Force. 

Tia Marie Murphy, Paralegal

Graduate of Somerset Community College - Associates Degree in Applied Science, inducted into Omicron Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. 

While at Eastern Kentucky University pursuing her degree in Paralegal Science, inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. 

Worked at AppalReD Legal Aid, Somerset Office, for twenty-six (26) years [from June 1989 through August 2015] as Chief Secretary.  While there, served on the Board of Directors for the Office of Kentucky Legal Services Programs (OKLSP) for four (4) years, and a member of the Kentucky Legal Services Strategic Planning Committee for five (5) years.

Past President of the Kentucky Basket Association and founding member of the Lake Cumberland Basket Weavers; enjoys sailing, basket weaving, knitting, and listening to music.  

Maja Peterson , Office Manager

Maja earned her associate's degree in Office Administration at Nameless College. In 2000, she moved to Washington, D.C. with her husband and joined the Keene Dental team. She is a scheduling extraordinaire and prides herself in having developed the system that keeps patient wait time under five minutes. As an interior design enthusiast, she took it upon herself to create an inviting atmosphere for our office. She enjoys rock climbing, painting, and video games.
